Lots of water, flat land and endless views. The Netherlands has a lot more to offer than just beautiful plains, a funny language and the famous painter Vincent Van Gogh. Even though the Dutch film industry is quite small, our neighbouring country is nevertheless able to entertain you with marvellous short films. Dutch films can be anything: funny and serious, cordial and surprising, sometimes everything at once.
The Netherlands is a country we have noticed time and again in recent years after entering special short films into our competitions. Last year's winners included two Dutch films: "Green Screen Gringo" won the Lichtstadt Award and "Botanica" the Youth Jury Award.
That's why this year we're devoting three programme blocks exclusively to the Dutch short film and want to showcase our neighbouring country in a different way. The selected films take a close look at fellow human beings, world problems and small moments.
